March 2026

Lamplighter

Happy March! This month always brings to mind the phrase “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.” It is a weather proverb, but we know God is in charge of everything, especially the weather. (We certainly have experienced some snowy conditions lately.) It is fun to see if the proverb holds true. What this also brings to mind, more importantly, is Jesus as the Lamb of God (John 1:36) showing His power and His sacrifice for us as well as bring the “Lion for the tribe of Judah.” (Revelations 5:5)

The first coming of Jesus was like a lamb, a helpless baby, born in a stable, for you, for me. He was like a lamb being led to slaughter for you, for me; on the way to the cross, for you, for me. Jesus is the Lamb of God, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29) Look at our beautiful stained-glass window above our altar, Jesus, our Good Shepard, holding a lamb as the Lamb of God. Joh calls Jesus a lamb twenty- four times.

When Jesus returns He will be a Lion, a powerful lion; God bringing judgment. The lion became a sign pf the tribe of Judah and of the king who would come from that lineage. (Revelations 5:5)

Hopefully, March will go out like a lamb, when the weather turns to sunny spring. The cold, blustery winter will turn to sunshine and warm breezes. Don’t forget Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 8. Spring ahead! (Did you know the word Lent has Germanic roots referring to the length of days in springtime?)

March is month of Lent, a time of prayer and repentance. We look forward to Easter Sunday on April 5th.  What a day to celebrate our Lord’s Resurrection. Praise to our Lamb of God!

We are so thankful and blessed to have Pastor Dennis Rockett at St. Paul’s celebrating Holy Communion with us. We are still patiently and prayerfully waiting for a new pastor.

We can’t forget St. Patrick’s Day in March. St. Paul’s is having a St. Patrick’s Day party on March 13, 2026, at 6:30pm in Koepchen Fellowship Hall. Linda, one of our organists, will be our musician and we’ll be having some Irish dancers.  Please join us.  Tickets are $25. We will be enjoying delicious Irish fare food: corned beef, cabbage Sheppard’s pie and Irish soda bread. Everyone is Irish on St. Paddy’s Day! (or a few days before.) Erin Go Bragh.

Let the shamrock serve as a reminder to thee of God’s presence in His Holy Trinity.

A special hymn for this month is “Lamb of God.” The words are beautiful and special.

Dear Friends in Christ,

We will end this month with a special Sunday, Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026, the week before Easter. We will be placing our sin flags on the cross as we begin Holy Week.

We look forward to Easter Sunday when are sin flags are replaced with white flowers. We would love to share this tradition with you. Hope to see you at St. Paul’s.

Look to the Cross. Look to Jesus, our Lamb of God.

Love in Christ,

Your Elders,

  1. Your only Son, no sin to hide,
But You have sent Him from Your side
To walk upon this guilty sod,
And to become a Lamb of God. Refrain:

  2. Refrain  O Lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God,
I love the holy Lamb of God!
O wash me in His precious blood,
My Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

  3. Your gift of love they crucified,
They laughed and scorned Him as He died:
The humble King they named a fraud,
And sacrificed the Lamb of God. Refrain

  4. I was so lost, I should have died,
But You have brought me to Your side
To be led by Your staff and rod,
And to be called a Lamb of God. Refrain
